Haggar Outlet In Support of CCAA Opens in Newmarket, ON
On Saturday, December 5, 2009 the Haggar Outlet at 225 Main Street South in Newmarket, held its Grand Opening. In addition to CCAA staff members and Haggar Canada’s Sr. V.P. Sales, Brian Main, MP Mrs. Lois Brown and Councillor Chris Emanuel were on hand to help with the official opening ceremony and ribbon cutting at 11:am. Ms. Brown and Councillor Emanuel brought greetings and thanks from the community.
MP for Newmarket-Aurora, Mrs. Lois Brown presented Haggar Canada and CCAA with a congratulatory certificate from the Federal Government, and during her address she stated that, “Haggar Canada is to be congratulated for its contribution to the community through this unique partnership with the Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness.”
Newmarket Councillor Chris Emanuel also thanked Haggar for a forward-thinking corporate attitude and for choosing Newmarket’s Main Street for this “first of its kind” Outlet in support of the CCAA.
The Haggar Outlet, featuring clothing for women and men, opened its doors on November 14th to a booming business and with it was launched a new and unique partnership between CCAA and Haggar Canada. The outlet, features 60% off regular prices supporting the CCAA through donations from the proceeds of all sales, and is the pilot for what both organizations are hoping will be a future national initiative.
“It is because of the generosity of corporate partners like Haggar Canada that we are able to continue to provide all of our programs and services for women, children and men whose lives have been torn apart by abuse,” said CCAA Founder, Executive Director, Ellen Campbell. “In these challenging economic times we are very grateful to Haggar Canada for coming up with new ways in which to support us.”
Haggar Canada first partnered with CCAA in April of 2008, with a fashion show at Fairview Mall in Toronto. Subsequently, Haggar selected CCAA as its national charity and, in 2008, Haggar donated $50,000 from the proceeds of select Haggar merchandise sales to the Centre’s Martin Kruze Memorial Fund. Earlier in 2009, Haggar donated over 500 garments to the Centre to be given away to individuals needing help in re-establishing their lives after leaving an abusive circumstance, often with just the clothes they were wearing.
“Opening a Haggar Outlet store seemed a natural next step for our partnership with CCAA. This is a cause that we at Haggar feel very strongly about,” said Michael Stitt, President, Haggar Canada. “Our boomer customers are mothers, fathers and grandparents – a group with a strong empathy for this sensitive topic especially towards child abuse. We want customers feeling good about their Haggar purchase in more ways than one.”
The Haggar Outlet will be managed by staff members of the CCAA, alongside the many volunteers who will dedicate their time to operating the store. This offers a great opportunity for students wanting to accumulate community hours for graduation, seniors or anyone else with a few hours a week to give to charity. Not only is it a way to give back to the community but the deals at the store are incomparable with prices of up to 60% off regular price of Haggar fashions.
